For many years, the AVMA Career Center has done wonders in fulfilling the recruitment and career needs of veterinary professionals across the country and around the world. I have personally used the Career Center many times throughout my years in practice.
As a former partner in four small-animal hospitals just outside of Chicago, it seemed like we were always hiring, and the Career Center made it easy to find good-quality candidates.

A new Career Center experience
As the veterinary profession continues to evolve, it’s important that the AVMA’s work in support of your changing career service needs evolves as well. To ensure this, several enhancements to the Career Center user experience just became available at the end of 2024.
For starters, the Career Center experience has been modernized for both the employer and the job seeker. We’ve created a more valuable service by providing an advanced level of support and strengthening the Career Center’s presence within the profession.
The AVMA is partnering with national and state organizations, as well as universities, to create the Veterinary Career Community, which will further enable job seekers to identify relevant professional opportunities. The ongoing growth of this community in the coming years also will enable employers to connect with qualified candidates.
Job seekers will notice an upgraded job search page, the option to be notified when jobs matching your preferences become available, an opportunity to receive new job alerts delivered straight to your inbox, and access to new and exclusive career resources.
The new Career Center also includes enhanced features for employers: options to highlight job postings across the profession, be featured in emails sent directly to targeted job seekers, get more exposure for job listings and company profiles, explore additional branding opportunities, and access a resume bank with refined candidate search filters that produce more precise results.
